iOS/iPadOS 14 - Please fix the Shortcuts
Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10:19 PM UTC
With version 14 of iOS/iPadOS Apple introduced new widgets, also for the Home widget area. I can't say I like the new styled widgets a lot but what I can say is that they waste a lot of space and therefor you don't see as much as before:
I used to see all of the shortcuts I selected for the widget in the shortcuts app, but they disappeared in the new one - with no reason at all. App [...]
The Thunderbolt Dilemma with current MacBooks
Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 12:29 PM UTC
In this post I want to describe my experiences with my MacBook Pro 16" from 2019 and the struggles with the Thunderbolt ports using various external peripherals.
The story begins in December 2019 when I got my first work machine that wasn't a Thinkpad/PC based laptop in almost 20 years of working with IBM/HCL Notes and Domino. I wanted a MacBook for my next work device as I was already [...]
Quick-Tip: see who is invited in MS Outlook

After the upgrade this app threw errors that some Java classes are unknown.

MIMEEntity emailRoot = emailDocument.createMIMEEntity("Body");
MIMEHeader emailHeader = emailRoot.createHeader("To");
emailHeader.addValText("Oliver Busse/We4IT" [...]
What a ride!

Today marks the 5th anniversary working for We4IT. This doesn’t seem to be a long time but, holy smokes, what happened during this period is freaking awesome.
This was the beginning of me working entirely from home - currently a big deal for most of us but not for me, I am used to it - and I really like it. It has so many advantages and there are no signs of isolation when you use th [...]
